Anti-Spy Safeguard:

Last night I was delivered a laptop with AntiSpy Safeguard running on it.  As convincing as it looks while its running, this infections should be named Spyware Anti-Safeguard.  What I noticed right off the bat is that at start-up in both Normal and Safe Mode the the user is prevented from doing anything while this tool pretends to be scanning your machine.

What it is actually doing is displaying false scan results as a tactic to scare you into thinking that your computer is infected with viruses. This fake program is advertised through websites and popups that pretend to be online malware applications that find infections on your computer.

After it finds these "infected"  files, it tells you they cannot be removed unless you purchase the software. DON'T ATTEMPT TO PURCHASE ANY SOFTWARE!!!!

Besides, AntiSpy Safeguard won't remove any infections anyway because they simply don't exist on your computer.

On this computer I ran my trusty Avast BART CD and it took care of the problem rather quickly.

If left unresolved this scareware will block task manager, system restore and even safe mode. It will more than likely block all other programs on your computer too claiming that those programs are infected. Its all smoke and mirrors designed to get your credit card information.  AntiSpy Safeguard is nothing more but a scam.

If you find that your computer is infected with this virus, Call Joe at 704-990-TECH(8324) and I will get you back up and running in no time at all.
